I hope you're having an amazing first week of December, especially after all the chaos that comes with Black Friday. If you’re like me, you’ve probably been reflecting on how things went and what’s next. I shared a message on my account this week that I really think every entrepreneur needs to hear:
Your Black Friday sales have no impact on what's possible for you next. 🍾
I really want to emphasize that. It’s so easy to create stories when things didn’t go as planned. Maybe sales weren’t as big as you hoped, or the buzz wasn’t what you expected. But here’s the thing: the entrepreneurs who win are the ones who keep moving forward. They don’t dwell on what did or didn’t happen. They’re focused on where they’re going next. They’re excited about the future, not stuck in the past.
Let’s break down what happened this year and what you can do with this information going forward.
Black Friday Burnout: Are People Even Listening?
Let’s face it—Black Friday has changed a lot over the years, and this year, we saw even more shifts in shopping behaviors. One of the biggest takeaways for me? People are becoming numb to these sales. It’s no surprise that there’s so much noise in November—everyone’s sharing sales, deals, and discounts, and it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle.
In fact, one thing I noticed this year was how influencers adapted to the chaos. Instead of sharing sales in stories like usual, they created curated guides with one link to send their audience to. No clutter, no noise—just the essentials. And guess what? They won.
Black Friday Shock: Big Discounts or Bust
Another thing we’ve all noticed: people are numb to smaller discounts. Unless it’s something like 40, 50, or even 60% off, it doesn’t seem to grab attention in the same way. Do you have to give away all your profits? Absolutely not. But I think we need to shift our thinking about Black Friday. It’s not just about raking in the sales anymore.
Instead, think of it as an opportunity to introduce new people to your business. It’s about getting fresh eyes on what you offer and allowing new customers to experience your world. How can you make it an experience for them?
The Changing Tides: Black Friday is No Longer a Lifeline
I know businesses that once relied heavily on just two sales a year—one in May and one on Black Friday. They would bring in big sales during these times. But guess what? That model broke down for them last year. Black Friday behaviour has changed, and we need to change with it.
So, instead of Black Friday being about the influx of sales, consider it an opportunity to build long-term customer relationships. How can you get them to sample your world? Get them hooked, and the sales will follow.
The November Effect: Slow Down? Don’t Take It Personally
Let’s talk about another pattern I see that trips up a lot of business owners. You probably noticed it too—the slow down in mid-November. It feels like nothing is moving, and it can mess with your mindset. But here’s the truth: it’s not about you.
People are figuring out what the Black Friday season is going to look like. They’re not making buying decisions in the middle of November—they’re preparing for the big day. So don’t let the lull make you think you’re doing something wrong. It’s part of the pattern.
What’s Next? Shifting Your Energy to Receive More
Now that we’ve discussed Black Friday and the changes happening in the market, let’s talk about what’s next for you.
I believe energy and your ability to open up to receiving are the most important parts of running a successful business. I used to think it was all about mindset and strategy, but honestly, it’s more about being open to receiving.
For me, everything shifted when I stopped overthinking strategy and truly opened myself up to receiving. And let me tell you, it made a huge difference. Over one weekend in November, I brought in 377 new clients and sold out a mastermind. All without following the typical slow burn most people were experiencing.
If you’re ready to tap into this, I’m excited to share more with you about how to open yourself up to receiving and blow things out of the water in the process.
